Police nab suspected car thief
The police in Gwarinpa division have arrested a suspected car thief after an alleged failed attempt to steal a car on Fifth Avenue near Citec Junction.
A police source said the suspect and his accomplice, who were drunk, had leant on the car while attempting to open the door before they were caught by some residents.
“One Jojo was seen while attempting to steal one Honda Accord vehicle with registration number FU 225 EKY from where it was parked,” the source said.
The source said residents contacted police officers after the suspect was caught in the act.
The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the suspect had not opened the vehicle before he was caught.
“He had not succeeded in opening the car; he rested on the car with the intention of opening it,” he said.
He commended the residents for their discipline as the suspect was not manhandled before he was handed over to the police.
“There was nothing found on him but residents alleged that there were two so the other suspect must have escaped with the tools,” he said.
