Masari pro­poses N211.4bn bud­get for 2018

The Katsina State gov­ern­ment has an­nounced a bud­get pro­posal of N211.4bn for the 2018 fis­cal year.

Of the to­tal, N51.4 bil­lion is for re­cur­rent ex­pen­di­ture while N160 bil­lion is for cap­i­tal ex­pen­di­ture.

The 2018 pro­posal, higher than that of 2017 by N71.3 bil­lion, is to be fi­nanced from ex­pected N10.2 bil­lion as In­ter­nally Gen­er­ated Rev­enues, N26.2 bil­lion as ‘other In­ter­nal Rev­enue’ and N131.1 bil­lion as Rev­enue Re­ceiv­able through the Fed­er­a­tion Ac­count.

Pre­sent­ing the pro­posal be­fore the state House of As­sem­bly, Gov­er­nor Aminu Masari said Ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor, with N42.4 bil­lion topped sec­toral al­lo­ca­tion, fol­lowed by Health with N23,8 bil­lion.

Masari said the pro­posal, tagged ‘Bud­get of Ac­tu­al­iza­tion,’ was meant to ac­tu­al­ize the gov­ern­ment’s Restora­tion Agenda.

The Speaker, Abubakar Ku­sada, promised to give the bud­get a speedy pas­sage for early im­ple­men­ta­tion.
