Po­lice un­cover fake mil­i­tary train­ing base in Ogun, ar­rest three

The Ogun State Po­lice Com­mand yes­ter­day said a fake mil­i­tary train­ing ground has been busted and three per­sons sus­pected to be mem­bers of the op­er­a­tors ar­rested.

The Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, Ahmed Illyasu, made the dis­clo­sure while parad­ing nine other sus­pects, whose of­fences ranged from armed rob­bery, mur­der and cultism among oth­ers at the Com­mand head­quar­ters, Elew­eran, Abeokuta.

Ahmed told news­men that on Novem­ber 10, op­er­a­tives of the Fed­eral Special Anti-Rob­bery Squad (FSARS) “re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about a syn­di­cate that set up a train­ing base in Adigbe area of Abeokuta, where they were giv­ing short mil­i­tary train­ing to hood­lums and pre­sent­ing them as sol­diers.

“Based on this in­for­ma­tion the place was stormed by FSARS led by Supl. Ayuba Peter, where three sus­pects were ar­rested,” he said.

The com­mis­sioner gave the names of the three as Timele­hin Olaniyan, Pe­lumi Olatunde and Arowolo Gbenga, adding that items re­cov­ered from them in­cluded two jack­knives, two Nige­ria Navy iden­tity cards and one tear-gas (pep­per spray).
