Man ar­rested for al­legedly killing his 60-year-old sis­ter

A39-year-old male res­i­dent of Gan­gare quar­ters in Awak town of Kal­tungo LGA of Gombe State was ar­rested by the state po­lice com­mand over al­leged mur­der of his 60-year-old sis­ter.

The sus­pect Abubakar Ayuba was ar­rested by the po­lice for a case of cul­pa­ble homi­cide, af­ter he al­legedly killed his sis­ter, one Yabinu Ibrahim, 60, with a stick.

A state­ment by the com­mand’s Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer (PPRO), DSP Obed Mary Malum, said “The sus­pect used a stick and hit his sis­ter sev­er­ally and thereby killed her, af­ter he sus­pected her to have be­witched and killed his daugh­ter, one Adama.”

DSP Malum said the sus­pect would be charged to court af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tion is con­cluded.

In an­other de­vel­op­ment, the state com­mand said it has handed over herds of cat­tle it re­cov­ered from sus­pected cat­tle rustlers to their right­ful owner.

Ac­cord­ing to the com­mand’s PPRO, the owner one Al­haji Mo­hammed Umar of Borno Ku­rukuru vil­lage of Bali LGA of Taraba State sur­faced and iden­ti­fied the cat­tle in­ter­cepted at Kur­jele vil­lage in July 2018 by op­er­a­tives from Dadin Kowa po­lice di­vi­sion.

Malum said the iden­ti­fied his cat­tle, he said were stolen com­mu­nal clash in Do­rawa/Mararraba owner which af­ter a Gindin Bay­isa vil­lage in Donga LGA of Taraba State. Mean­while, the state Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, Mr Tairu Shina Olukolu, said the com­mand has ar­rested and se­cured the con­vic­tion of 142 mem­bers of no­to­ri­ous Kalare groups in the last 10 months from var­i­ous courts.

Ad­dress­ing news­men at the week­end in Gombe, Olukolu said 18 oth­ers have been re­manded in pri­son await­ing trial for var­i­ous of­fenses rang­ing from armed rob­bery, cul­pa­ble homi­cide and rape.

The CP added that the com­mand ha also re­cov­ered 612 dan­ger­ous weapons which in­cludes; Dane gun, lo­cally made pis­tols, cut­lasses, knives, axes, car­tridges, bow and ar­rows among oth­ers from the Kalare groups.
