NRC chair­man, Us­man Abubakar, dies at 68

The chair­man of Nige­rian Rail­way Cor­po­ra­tion (NRC), Engr Us­man Abubakar, has passed on at the age of 68.

Fam­ily sources said he died in yes­ter­day at a hospi­tal in Abuja and his re­mains will be buried to­day in Daura.

The late Abubakar hailed from San­damu lo­cal gov­ern­ment in Katsina State.

He was ap­pointed chair­man of NRC on Septem­ber 27, 2016 by Pres­i­dent Muham­madu Buhari. He served as com­mis­sioner of works in Katsina State in 1987.

At var­i­ous times, he was the chair­man Jebba Pa­per Mills, Daura Tan­nery, and In­ter­linked Tech­nolo­gies, a pri­vate com­pany.

He is sur­vived by a wife Ha­jiya Rabi Sule Maiyawo, and three chil­dren: Lawal Abubakar, Engr Buhari Abubakar and Engr Mustapha Abubakar.
