NILDS ma­tric­u­lates first HND stu­dents

The Na­tional In­sti­tute for Leg­isla­tive and Demo­cratic Stud­ies (NILDS) has ma­tric­u­lated 24 stu­dents as part of its first Higher Na­tional Diploma (HND) pro­gramme.

At the ma­tric­u­la­tion cer­e­mony yes­ter­day at the Na­tional Assem­bly, Abuja, the Direc­tor Gen­eral of the in­sti­tute, Prof Ladi Ha­malai, said the stu­dents would un­dergo se­ri­ous stud­ies in of­fi­cial re­port­ing.

She said the HND pro­gramme was ac­cred­ited by the Na­tional Board for Tech­ni­cal Ed­u­ca­tion (NBTE), adding that the in­sti­tute would give the stu­dents the best in their pro­gramme, which is for 2017/2018 ses­sion.

“As pi­o­neers of this pro­gramme, a lot is ex­pected of you. I there­fore wish to ad­vise you all to make the best of this unique op­por­tu­nity to im­prove your skills, knowl­edge and ex­pe­ri­ence in re­port­ing par­lia­men­tary pro­ceed­ings ac­cu­rately and com­pre­hen­sively,” she said.

Speak­ing, the Clerk to the Na­tional Assem­bly (CNA), Mo­hammed SaniO­molori urged the stu­dents to en­sure that they make the best of the op­por­tu­nity of­fered them to study.

Also, the Head of Ser­vice of the Fed­er­a­tion (HoS), Winifred Oyo-Ita, rep­re­sented by Mr Yakubu Austin John, com­mended the in­sti­tute for com­ing up with the pro­gramme.
