N/Assem­bly urged to pass Dis­abil­ity Bill

The Joint Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Peo­ple with Dis­abil­ity (JONAPWD), Enugu State chap­ter, has ap­pealed to the Na­tional Assem­bly to quickly pass the Na­tional Dis­abil­ity Bil.

JONAPWD Chair­man, Bar­ris­ter Gab Chikwe Nna­mani and Sec­re­tary, Au­gus­tine Onyea­chonam made the ap­peal at a press con­fer­ence in Enugu yes­ter­day.

They said more than 95 per­cent of pub­lic in­fras­truc­ture in Nige­ria were in­ac­ces­si­ble to per­sons with dis­abil­i­ties.

They al­leged that gov­ern­ment in­sti­tu­tions de­signed their pro­grammes and ac­tiv­i­ties at the ex­clu­sion of per­sons with dis­abil­i­ties.
