Senate confirms Kwarra as NPC chair, 11 others as commissioners

The Senate yesterday confirmed the nomination of Nasir Isa Kwarra from Nasarawa State for appointment as Chairman, National Population Commission.

The 11 others confirmed as commissioners are: Ali Silas Agara (Nasarawa);MohammedChisoA.Dattijo (Sokoto); Gidado Razak Folorunso (Kwara); Ibrahim Mohammed (Bauchi); Hon. Joseph Kwali Shazin (FCT); Ajayi Ayodeji Sunday (Ekiti); Garba A. G. Zakar (Jigawa); Mai Aliyu Muhammad (Yobe); Muhammad Muttaka Rini (Zamfara); Hon. Engr. Bala Almu Banye (Katsina); and Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin (Lagos).

Their confirmation followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population, chaired by Senator Saidu Ahmed Alkali (Gombe North).

Senator Alkali, while presenting his committee’s report, said the nominees possess the requisite qualifications, and that there was no petition against their nominations.
