Please, make passports available

Sunday Trust - - VIEWPOINT - Rakiya Aminu wrote from Jos, Plateau State.

Iam calling on the Immigration boss and the Minister of Interior to look into the passport issue. For sometime now, passport booklets have been scarce, a development which has caused many Nigerians to miss several opportunities.

There is absolutely no reason why a citizen will not be able to obtain a passport when necessary. It is embarrassing that some people have to wait for six months after applying to obtain the passport. The Immigration boss and the minister of Interior should think of ways of tackling this issue, as it does not do well for the image of the country.

This also comes down to one of our major problems- which is our love for things made outside this country. Why are our passports not made in Nigeria? Had it been they were made here, we will not have been experiencing scarcity. Something should be done about it.
