SARAKI: Why we deferred screening of 27 Recs

Sunday Trust - - VIEWPOINT -

Idon’t think Saraki deserves all the attacks he is getting from across the country. Rejecting Magu does not mean disloyalty. It is worthy to note that the Senate rejection of Magu was based on a report from the Department of State Security (DSS). It is important that we have all the facts before condemning the Senate. There is no way the lawmakers could have ignored the report from the DSS. Sulaiman Dauda Muhammed

I don’t think the Senate President has told Nigerians the real reason behind their refusal to confirm Magu and all the other problems the lawmakers are having with the Presidency. But everything will be exposed in due time. Nigerians are waiting patiently. Bayonle Akande

What I really want to know is why Magu cannot be confirmed. The man has acted for too long. I urge the Senate to overlook the DSS report and confirm Magu, so that the fight against corruption can go on smoothly. Musa Joseph

I don’t think Saraki has to be loyal to anyone. He should just go ahead and discharge his duties diligently. Alyasau Sabo Haruna

We are not after the Senate president’s loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari. All we need is for the lawmakers to carry out the duties for which they were voted. Ibrahim Usman Usman I think the lawmakers are just pursuing their personal agenda. Audu Sani

I urge the Senate president to try and solve the problem the lawmakers are having with the Presidency because Nigerians are watching and in 2019, they will be voted based on performance. Oshafu Adamz Isa

The Senate President should address the issue of assets declaration. It is not too late for him to declare his total assets. I am sure that once he does that the matter will be tackled. There is no need to tag the trial in court political. Jamil Musa No matter what happens we will know the truth very soon. Bayonle Akande

Bukola Saraki has shown that he is more than capable to hold the position of Senate president. I wish him well in all his endeavours. Idris Muhd Tukur

The Senate president should be allowed to perform his duties without distractions. Uwadiale George
