Kebbi wa­ter project gulps N900m

The ex­pan­sion of Dukku wa­ter works project in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State cap­i­tal has gulped N900 mil­lion. Ac­cord­ing to the Chair­man, Due Process Of­fice, Al­haji Muhammed Si­rajo Garba, the project would pro­vide ad­e­quate safe drink­ing wa­ter for Birnin Kebbi and its en­vi­rons and it is ex­pected to be com­pleted within the du­ra­tion of one year and six months.

He made this known to jour­nal­ists dur­ing the in­spec­tion of iron pipes that were brought from China for the com­mence­ment of the wa­ter project at Dukku wa­ter works in Birnin Kebbi, yes­ter­day.

He said “we are wit­ness­ing the ar­rival of the pipes from China in 15 trucks. The com­pany has a stan­dard of en­sur­ing that what­ever is com­ing must come from their com­pany in China to fa­cil­i­tate quick de­liv­ery of the job”.

He promised that his of­fice would en­sure that the work is car­ried out ac­cord­ing to the laid down agree­ment and spec­i­fi­ca­tion.

It would be re­called that the Kebbi State gov­ern­ment awarded the wa­ter project con­tract three months ago to a Chi­nese en­gi­neer­ing firm, China Zhorghan, to re­ha­bil­i­tate the Birnin Kebbi wa­ter works which is the main source of wa­ter for the state cap­i­tal and its en­vi­rons.
