Kano to hold LG polls Fe­bru­ary 10

Kano State is to hold lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions on Fe­bru­ary 10, 2018, Chair­man of the state In­de­pen­dent Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (KANSIEC), Pro­fes­sor Garba Ibrahim Sheka has said.

Pro­fes­sor Sheka told jour­nal­ists in Kano that the com­mis­sion had al­ready re­leased elec­tion time ta­ble.

Sheka, who was re­cently ap­pointed chair­man of the com­mis­sion, said sen­si­ti­sa­tion visit and pub­lic­ity cam­paign to the 44 lo­cal gov­ern­ment ar­eas of the state would hold be­tween Novem­ber 13th and De­cem­ber 25th 2017.

“Dis­tri­bu­tion of elec­toral guide­lines and no­ti­fi­ca­tion of polling cen­tres will take ef­fect on Novem­ber 17 and end on De­cem­ber 1, 2017. Sale of nom­i­na­tion forms will com­mence on De­cem­ber 1st and end on the 22nd, while sub­mis­sion of all com­pleted forms should be done on or be­fore De­cem­ber 27th,” he said.

The chair­man as­sured that the com­mis­sion would do ev­ery­thing pos­si­ble to en­sure a hitch-free ex­er­cise.
