Rivers to host NAFEST 2018

The Trea­sure Base of the Na­tion, Rivers State will be host­ing the 2018 edi­tion of the Na­tional Fes­ti­val of Arts And Cul­ture (NAFEST) later in the year.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port on the Na­tional Coun­cil for Arts and Cul­ture site, the NCAC Di­rec­tor Gen­eral Otunba Oluse­gun, while pre­sent­ing the NAFEST to the state gov­er­nor, Bar­ris­ter Nye­som Wike, at the Gov­ern­ment House, Port Har­court, com­mended Wike for ac­cept­ing to host the event.

He said the ges­ture was an­other tes­ti­mony to Wike’s de­ter­mi­na­tion to­wards mak­ing Rivers State the cen­tre of so­cio cul­tural events in Nige­ria.

Cit­ing sim­i­lar events which had taken place in the state re­cently like the Nige­rian Guild of Ed­i­tor’s meet­ing, African Wrest­ing Cham­pi­onship Com­pe­ti­tion and AMA Award, among oth­ers, Run­sewe said, adding NAFEST to the list is a con­fir­ma­tion of the high level of se­cu­rity and in­fras­truc­tural fa­cil­i­ties in the state.

Gov­er­nor Wike thanked the NCAC boss for giv­ing Rivers State the host­ing right. He promised that the state, un­der his lead­er­ship, would do all pos­si­ble to en­sure that NAFEST 2018 is the best ever or­ga­nized.
