What you need to know about 2018 Win­ter Olympic Games

• The Olympic Win­ter Games will be held in Korea for the first time in 30 years af­ter the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988.

• It will be from 9 to 25 Fe­bru­ary 2018 in the host city PyeongChang, Gang­won Prov­ince.

• Most snow sports will take place in Pyeongchang, Alpine speed events will take place in Jeongseon, and all ice sports will be com­peted in the coastal city of Gangne­ung.

• Pyeongchang is a county lo­cated in the North­east of South Korea.

• Pyeongchang is a pop­u­lar at­trac­tion for Kore­ans and tourists all year round, par­tic­u­larly for hik­ers due to the Tae­baek Moun­tain Range.

• There are var­i­ous win­ter sports venues which will mostly be used for the Olympic Games.

• It’s also home to cul­tural sites such as Bud­dhist tem­ples, snow flower and trout fes­ti­vals.

• PyeongChang 2018 Mas­cots are Sooho­rang and Band­abi.

• Snow sports: Alpine Ski­ing, Cross-Coun­try Ski­ing, Freestyle Ski­ing, Nordic com­bined, Biathlon, Ski Jump­ing and Snow­board.

• Slid­ing sports: Short track speed skat­ing, Speed Skat­ing, Fig­ure Skat­ing, Ice Hockey and Curl­ing.

• Ice sports: Bob­sleigh, Luge and Skele­ton
