Restora­tion of elec­tric­ity sup­ply to 12 Sokoto vil­lages com­mences

Af­ter two years of liv­ing in dark­ness, hope rises for over 12 vil­lages in Wa­makko Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area of Sokoto State as re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of faulty elec­tric­ity sup­ply lines to the com­mu­ni­ties com­mences.

The af­fected vil­lages are: Gandi, Gumbi, Barkeji, Baga, Kau­rar Malam Garba, Yar Abba, Gi­dan Bo­biri, Kam­mata, Fan­fare, Gi­dan Yaggo, Sabon garin Arkilla and Gi­dan Ali.

The pre­vail­ing elec­tric­ity sit­u­a­tion was noted to have neg­a­tively af­fected the so­cio-eco­nomic lives of res­i­dents of the ar­eas.

The law­maker rep­re­sent­ing Soko­toNorth Se­na­to­rial District, Al­haji Aliyu Wa­makko, who is em­bark­ing on the pro­ject, said, “elec­tric­ity is very cru­cial in en­hanc­ing the lives of in­di­vid­u­als, as such, its dearth will have colossal neg­a­tive con­se­quences on their lives.’’

He added that the ges­ture was in con­tin­u­a­tion of ef­forts to up­lift the liv­ing stan­dard of the en­tire peo­ple of Sokoto State.

The re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion work was flagged off by the Chair­man of Wa­makko Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment, Al­haji Bello Buba Kau­rarKimba on be­half of Se­na­tor Wa­makko.

A for­mer Vice Chair­man of Wa­makko Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment who is spokesman of the ben­e­fit­ing com­mu­ni­ties, Al­haji Abubakar Muham­mad Gumbi, said the elec­tric­ity prob­lem had caused un­told hard­ship to thou­sands of res­i­dents.
