2018 US Open Polo Cham­pi­onship: Daily Rac­ing, Audi in win­ning starts

The pin­na­cle of the USA high goal se­ries got un­der­way Wed­nes­day with Daily Rac­ing Form and Audi polo teams tak­ing to a fly­ing with a hard earned open­ing vic­to­ries in the pres­ti­gious cham­pi­onship revered as the pin­na­cle of the no­ble game of kings in USA .

Hosted un­der the aus­pices of the United State Polo As­so­ci­a­tion (USPA) and staged at the fore­most In­ter­na­tional Polo Club, in Welling­ton in Florida, the grand event at­tracted six top class teams with 26 hand­i­cap goals.

All the com­bat­ants pa­rade some of the world’s most well-known polo faces show­cas­ing their awe­some skills at the hal­lowed IPC turf this year.

In the first game of the 2018 edi­tion, Colorado was de­feated by Daily Rac­ing Form, 13-11, to set the tour­na­ment off in a grand style. That vic­tory was swiftly fol­lowed the next day by a 13-7 win for Marc Ganzi’s Audi, against U.S Polo Assn. team.

Thurs­day also marked the come­back of Juan Martín Nero, who took to the field for U.S Polo Assn. team, hav­ing last ap­peared in the US Open’s 2016 Fi­nal for Or­chard Hill.

In the third qual­i­fy­ing match, it was Melissa Ganzi’s Flex­jet’s turn to take home the glory with a 9-4 win against ri­vals Colorado. Valiente made their tour­na­ment de­but with a 9-6 win against U.S Polo Assn in a match that also marked the first-time team­mates Fa­cundo Pieres and Adolfo Cam­bi­aso have come to­gether in this tour­na­ment.

The qual­i­fy­ing stages were con­cluded Wed­nes­day 11 April with matches be­tween Daily Rac­ing Form vs Flex­jet and Audi vs Valiente, while the Quar­ter Fi­nals stage will take cen­tre stages be­fore a full house at the Welling­ton Ground to­day, (Sun­day 15 April).

The Semi Fi­nals will take place on Wed­nes­day 18 April, with the all-im­por­tant US Open Fi­nal billed for Sun­day 22 April.
