Bayelsa gets new Head of Service
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has approved the appointment of Mr Luca Wellington Obiri, as the acting head of the state civil service. Obiri’s appointment follows the voluntary retirement of the out-going Head of Service, Rev. Thomas Zidafamor.
The state commissioner for information and orientation, Daniel Iworiso Mackson, in a statement in Yenagoa yesterday, explained that the new Head of Service had served as a permanent secretary in the office of the Secretary to State Government.
He said, “The new Head of Service will use his wealth of experience in public service to round up the on-going reforms in the state civil service within the next six months.”
He added, “The reforms without doubt has yielded tremendous results, particularly in deepening and strengthening the public service and producing a disciplined and dedicated workforce with over N500 million monthly savings recorded in wage bill.”
The commissioner also announced that Governor Dickson has approved the voluntary retirement of three permanent secretaries in the state civil service.
