Bayelsa gets new Head of Ser­vice

Gov­er­nor Se­ri­ake Dickson of Bayelsa State has ap­proved the ap­point­ment of Mr Luca Welling­ton Obiri, as the act­ing head of the state civil ser­vice. Obiri’s ap­point­ment fol­lows the vol­un­tary re­tire­ment of the out-go­ing Head of Ser­vice, Rev. Thomas Zidafamor.

The state com­mis­sioner for in­for­ma­tion and ori­en­ta­tion, Daniel Iworiso Mack­son, in a state­ment in Ye­nagoa yes­ter­day, ex­plained that the new Head of Ser­vice had served as a per­ma­nent sec­re­tary in the of­fice of the Sec­re­tary to State Gov­ern­ment.

He said, “The new Head of Ser­vice will use his wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence in pub­lic ser­vice to round up the on-go­ing re­forms in the state civil ser­vice within the next six months.”

He added, “The re­forms with­out doubt has yielded tremen­dous re­sults, par­tic­u­larly in deep­en­ing and strength­en­ing the pub­lic ser­vice and pro­duc­ing a dis­ci­plined and ded­i­cated work­force with over N500 mil­lion monthly sav­ings recorded in wage bill.”

The com­mis­sioner also an­nounced that Gov­er­nor Dickson has ap­proved the vol­un­tary re­tire­ment of three per­ma­nent sec­re­taries in the state civil ser­vice.
