Dankwambo’s administration has failed in Gombe – Goje
Aleader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, said yesterday that the administration of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has “failed woefully”.
Speaking with newsmen at his residence in Gombe, Goje who represents Gombe-Central senatorial district said the APC is poised to rescue the state from “the seven years misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration”.
He accused the PDP led administration in the state of abandoning most of the infrastructural projects he executed when he governed the state between 2003 and 2011.
Goje named the multi-billion naira Dadin-Kowa water scheme, state specialists’ hospital, the Gombe International Hotel and Pantami Stadium among the projects abandoned by the Dankwambo administration.
“Apart from decay of infrastructure, our hospitals no longer provide the free antenatal services for women and under-five children that we introduced when we were in office.
“The N8.2 billion we spent on the Gombe regional water scheme to bring water from Dadin Kowa to Gombe metropolis has been abandoned by Dankwambo, all the structures are there and you need just N250 million annually for maintenance but it was not done and people were made to suffer,” Goje said.
However, a chieftain of the PDP and senatorial aspirant of Gombe-Central, Alhaji Lamido Umar Chikaire, debunked Goje’s allegations, describing them as mere campaign rhetoric to gain votes.
Chikaire, who served as Goje’s chief of staff between 2003 and 2007, said the former governor should speak about his eight years stay at the Senate instead of attacking Dankwambo’s administration.
He said the PDP administration in the state has performed credibly in the area of infrastructure through construction of roads, schools, modern women and children hospital and establishment of numerous higher institutions among others.
