How gun­men stormed my res­i­dence to kill me - Enugu APC chair­man

The Chair­man of the All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC) Enugu State chap­ter, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said as­sas­sins stormed his In­de­pen­dence Lay­out, Enugu, res­i­dence on Fri­day night to kill him, but ended up shoot­ing at one of his se­cu­rity per­son­nel. He said the gun­men, af­ter shoot­ing at the po­lice­man, Sgt Ger­ald Eke, stole his ri­fle, adding that the of­fi­cer is cur­rently re­ceiv­ing treat­ment at the Na­tional Orthopaedic Hos­pi­tal, Enugu.

Nwoye ap­pealed to the po­lice author­ity and other se­cu­rity op­er­a­tives in the state to get to the root of the mat­ter and fish out those be­hind the in­ci­dent.

Sgt Eke, he said, was de­ployed to his res­i­dence less than one week be­fore the in­ci­dent. Brief­ing news­men in Enugu yes­ter­day, Dr. Nwoye said the in­ci­dent oc­curred be­tween 2:15am and 2:20am.

At the time of writ­ing the re­port, the In­de­pen­dence Lay­out Po­lice Sta­tion, the State Di­rec­tor of State Se­cu­rity Ser­vice had in­spected the scene of in­ci­dent, The state Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, Ebere Amaraizu con­firmed the in­ci­dent.
