How gunmen stormed my residence to kill me - Enugu APC chairman
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Enugu State chapter, Dr. Ben Nwoye, said assassins stormed his Independence Layout, Enugu, residence on Friday night to kill him, but ended up shooting at one of his security personnel. He said the gunmen, after shooting at the policeman, Sgt Gerald Eke, stole his rifle, adding that the officer is currently receiving treatment at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
Nwoye appealed to the police authority and other security operatives in the state to get to the root of the matter and fish out those behind the incident.
Sgt Eke, he said, was deployed to his residence less than one week before the incident. Briefing newsmen in Enugu yesterday, Dr. Nwoye said the incident occurred between 2:15am and 2:20am.
At the time of writing the report, the Independence Layout Police Station, the State Director of State Security Service had inspected the scene of incident, The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the incident.
