Kevin Love to miss at least six weeks af­ter surgery

Cleve­land Cava­liers for­ward Kevin Love un­der­went surgery on his in­jured toe Fri­day and will miss at least six weeks. The team an­nounced that Love had the pro­ce­dure, call­ing it suc­cess­ful, at the Hospi­tal for Spe­cial Surgery in New York City. The surgery was per­formed by Dr. Martin O’Mal­ley.

Love said ear­lier this week that he wasn’t sure how long he would be out with a painful big toe in­jury on his left foot. The in­jury has both­ered him since the pre­sea­son opener and af­fected his abil­ity to walk.

Love has played in four games this sea­son, av­er­ag­ing 19 points and 13.5 re­bounds. He has missed 45 games be­cause of in­juries over the past two sea­sons. The five-time All-Star signed a four-year, $120 mil­lion con­tract ex­ten­sion this sum­mer.
