Christian Ministry Proffers Solution To Marital Deadlocks

- By Ibe Emmanuella and Blessing Owolabi

THE rate at which marriages are crashing into irredeemable state in Africa and the world at large has become alarming, hence the prompt response by the richest woman in Africa Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, who is also the founder of Roseof Sharongloriousministry, with other ministers of God, to organise a resolution programme titled: ‘The University of Marriage Conference 2017” recently at the Eagles Club in Surulere, Lagos.

In an attempt to break deadlock in marriages, Alakija stated the six D’s that destroy the relationship between married couples as seed of Doubt, Disrespect, Disobedience, Disagreement,

Disharmony and Destruction.

“Women should shun attitude problems, shabby appearance, lack of intellectual contributions, sexual dissatisfaction and discontentment.

“Women should know how to be prudent in spending, to avoid financial issues in marriage by living within your limit and maximising your resources,” she said.

Also in attendance was the former governor of Ondo State, Segun Mimiko with his wife and former first lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola.

According to one of the guest ministers, Rev. Funke Felix Adejumo, President of Funke Adejumo Foundation, marriage is expensive and is a gift of God to mankind, but to have a successful mar- riage, couples should opt into the three stages of marriage: building, blending and bonding.

She added that couples should not hesitate to run to safety when they are faced with life-threatening issues.

“The covenant of life is superior to the covenant of marriage. Love is blind but marriage is the eye opener, it is like the masquerade and the masquerader,” she said.

Also speaking, co-founder and Pastor of Daystar Christian Center, Mrs. Nike Adeyemi said, to unlock deadlock in marriages, spouses have to learn to love and understand each other with effective prayers, communication, trust, contentment and forgiveness.

“Your marriage should be an evangelical tool, it should draw other people to Christ,” she said.

She added: “The key of forgiveness, key of prayer and the key of love are the three keys of unlocking deadlocks.

“Learn to love and understand your spouse, it is the solid foundation of marriages. Have effective communication, mutual respect, honour, trust, and contentment. Also, be committed and submissive to one another; do not let the financial aspect of life ruin your marriage. Life is not governed by miracles but by principles, she advised.

The Senior Pastor of Grace Family International Church, Reverend Yinka Ojo, also hit the nail on the head when he said, “an excellent marriage is when two forgivers live together”.
