Seven Gov­er­nors, Ngige, Amaechi, Onu Lead APC Chal­lenge in Anam­bra

* PDP Sus­pends Ex-chair­man, Emeakayi

THE All Pro­gres­sives Congress has in­au­gu­rated its Anam­bra Gov­er­nor­ship Cam­paign Coun­cil ahead of the gov­er­nor­ship elec­tion in the state on Novem­ber 18.

The coun­cil is headed by Bauchi State Gover­nor Mo­hammed Abubakar. Other mem­bers of the coun­cil in­clude, Gov­er­nors Rochas Oko­rocha (Imo), Si­mon La­long (Plateau), Nasir el-ru­fai (Kaduna), Ya­haya Bello (Kogi), Ro­timi Ak­eredolu (Ondo) and God­win Obaseki (Edo).

Oth­ers are Min­is­ter of Labour and Em­ploy­ment, Chris Ngige; Min­is­ter of Trans­porta­tion, Ro­timi Amaechi; and Og­bon­naya Onu of Science and Tech­nol­ogy.

The Na­tional Chair­man of the APC, John OdigieOye­gun, while in­au­gu­rat­ing the 48-mem­ber com­mit­tee said the party re­mained thebestop­tion­for­south­east to ac­tu­alise its pres­i­dency as­pi­ra­tion in the near­est fu­ture.

Odigie-oye­gun chal­lenged the com­mit­tee to work and bring the South­east into the main­streamof Nige­ria’spol­i­tics and into “the pro­gres­sive fam­ily”.

Mean­while, the cri­sis in the Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP,) in the state has deep­ened.

The na­tional dis­ci­plinary com­mit­tee of the party on Thurs­day sus­pended the former Anam­bra State chair­man of the party, Ken Emeakayi for four years over “in­dis­ci­pline.”

Emeakayi was sanc­tioned in a let­ter signed by the head of the dis­ci­plinary com­mit­tee of the party, wrongly dated Septem­ber 26 in­stead of Septem­ber 28. The com­mit­tee headed by Tom Ikimi said Emeakayi is also stripped of all le­git­i­mate priv­i­leges of a party mem­ber while serv­ing the pun­ish­ment

The com­mit­tee met on Thurs­day and re­viewed the writ­ten and oral pre­sen­ta­tionof Mr.emeakayi­in­clud­ing the nu­mer­ous doc­u­ments sub­mit­ted with re­spect to the al­le­ga­tions of dis­obe­di­ence­topar­ty­di­rec­tives lev­elled against be­fore hand­ing out the pun­ish­ment.

A state­ment is­sued by the party also noted that the com­mit­tee”fur­ther­con­sid­ered the pro­vi­sion of the con­sti­tu­tion of the party and found Ken to have com­mit­ted in­frac­tion against the pro­vi­sions of sec­tion 58 (1), (b), (c) and (h) of the PDP’S con­sti­tu­tion.”

”The na­tional dis­ci­plinary com­mit­tee agreed ac­cord­ingly to sus­pend Ken as a mem­ber of the party for a pe­ri­odof fouryearsstart­ing from Thurs­day, Septem­ber 28, 2017, to 27th Septem­ber 2021.
