Shipown­ers to dis­cuss sec­tor chal­lenges in La­gos

THE Shipown­ers As­so­ci­a­tion of Nige­ria (SOAN) has an­nounced its plans to gather the cream de la crème in the mar­itime sec­tor at its 2017 End of Year Workshop to dis­cuss per­ti­nent is­sues that have re­mained a clog in the wheel of the in­dus­try growth.

Pres­i­dent of SOAN, Greg Og­bei­fun, said the workshop is ex­pected to bring to­gether all shipown­ers in Nige­ria, pol­icy mak­ers, no­table busi­ness lead­ers, cap­tains of the mar­itime in­dus­try in both the pri­vate and pub­lic sec­tors to ex­am­ine mea­sures by which the for­tunes of the Nige­rian mar­itime in­dus­try could be im­proved upon, so as to have

mean­ing­ful con­tri­bu­tions to the na­tion’s Gross Do­mes­tic Prod­uct (GDP).

Ac­cord­ing to him, the theme for the event this year is “Giv­ing­crit­i­cal­life-line­tothe Nige­ri­an­mar­itimein­dus­try”,

and slated for Thurs­day, 7th De­cem­ber, 2017 at The Civic Cen­tre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Is­land, La­gos.

Dig­ni­taries ex­pected at the event in­clude: The Ex­ec­u­tive Gov­er­nor of Edo State, God­win Nogheghase Obaseki; Min­is­ter of Trans­porta­tion, Rt. Hon. Ro­timi Chibuike Amaechi; Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of the Nige­rian Ports Au­thor­ity (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala Us­man among oth­ers.
