Osun State SSG, others test positive for COVID- 19
• State records 11 fresh cases • Lagos govt says coronavirus testing remains free at public laboratories • Oyo makes facemasks compulsory for students on resumption
SECRETARY to Osun State Government ( SSG), Wole Oyebamiji and some workers in his office, have tested positive for COVID- 19.
The development was among the 11 fresh cases of coronavirus recorded in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, who in a statement in Osogbo confirmed the discovery of the additional 11 cases in the state, expressed concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the people towards the use of facemasks and other preventive measures rolled out to contain the pandemic.
Isamotu said that one patient had equally been discharged after testing negative for the virus.
He, however, noted that one of the reasons for the sudden rise in the COVID- 19 cases in the state was largely due to non- chalant attitude of residents to containment measures.
Isamotu also hinted that there were strong reasons to believe that the state now has community transmission around Ilesa axis, warning that government might be forced to impose another lockdown on the state.
the same vein, Lagos State Government has said that testing for Coronavirus at public laboratories is free.
In a statement yesterday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, said: “The state would like to re- assure the public that testing is still free at all the COVID- 19 public testing laboratories for all Lagos residents. Lagosians are enjoined to take advantage of this serv
