Jonah, department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, minna, niger state: The obsession by the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress government about drawing parallels with the past Goodluck Jonathan government smacks of abject defeatism; almost three years on, this APC government still gets a kick by looking over its shoulder and pointing fingers at a “corrupt” past PDP government.
Apparently, so it would seem, in order to draw from the Chibok-esque global wellspring of sympathy and support, the Dapchi schoolgirls’ abduction happened and the Buhari government raised suspicion by emphasising, quite unnecessarily, how positively responsive it was to “deal” with the Dapchi debacle even in the midst of a gross wedding show in Kano. Slightly more than a couple of weeks after abduction, this “caring” APC government “secured the release” of the Dapchi girls in contrast to the Jonathan’s dilly-dally over the Chibok girls debacle. Such life-and-death, Russian roulette staged parallelism just to colour Jonathan bad is childish at best.
