EY set to hold Au­dit Com­mit­tee Fo­rum

ERNST & Young nige­ria has con­cluded ar­range­ments to bring to­gether banks’ au­dit com­mit­tee mem­bers across board, to brain­storm on gov­er­nance-re­lated is­sues.

This is ex­pected to bring into per­spec­tive the evolv­ing de­mands of busi­nesses, reg­u­la­tors and in­vestors.

Ac­cord­ing to a state­ment by the pro­fes­sional firm, the Au­dit Com­mit­tee Fo­rum, tagged, ‘The fu­ture of gov­er­nance—dig­i­tal, tech­nol­ogy and in­no­va­tion’, will hold on Wed­nes­day in La­gos.

Speak­ers, who are mainly ex­perts in the fi­nan­cial sec­tor, will be look­ing to un­pack is­sues around the role and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of the au­dit com­mit­tee mem­bers and how their roles have evolved in re­cent time.

Other ar­eas of in­ter­est to be ex­am­ined in­clude the im­pact of dig­i­tal tech­nolo­gies on in­ter­nal au­dit, with spe­cific fo­cus on ways tech­no­log­i­cal in­no­va­tion is chang­ing the in­ter­nal au­dit func­tion.

Speak­ers will also take a deep dive into the In­ter­na­tional Fi­nan­cial Re­port­ing Stan­dards 9 and other de­vel­op­ments im­pact­ing fi­nan­cial in­stru­ments ac­count­ing, among oth­ers.

Ac­cord­ing to EY, the Au­dit Com­mit­tee Fo­rum is or­gan­ised to de­lib­er­ate on the align­ment of au­dit com­mit­tee agenda with banks’ pri­or­ity ar­eas, present com­pli­ance mat­ters as well as new re­port­ing stan­dards, among other press­ing is­sues bor­der­ing on au­dit.
