School debunks sexual assault on Edo pupil
THe management of St. Thomas Aquinas School, benin City, edo State, has dismissed the allegation that one of its teachers sexually molested a pupil in the school.
The worker, identified as Kosi nwagu, and said to be a Christian religious Knowledge teacher in the school located at eki Crescent in the Ikpobaokha Local Government Area of the state, was accused of touching the primary five pupil inappropriately.
A user, one Kunle Ayo, who raised the alarm over the alleged sexual molestation on november 7, accused the school of shielding the teacher, to cover up the act.
He said there were four other pupils touched improperly by the same teacher.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, mr. Chidi nwabuzor, said that he had yet received any complaints from anyone on the matter.
“molestation is a minor case that the divisional police officer can handle. no, I have not got any report of such,” nwabuzor said.
but the headmistress of the school, mr Precious Adu, told that the management only received a complaint from a JSS1 student, who claimed to have been harassed by the teacher.
Adu, however, stated that preliminary investigation showed that the allegation was false.
The headmistress said, “The pupil said that the teacher asked her to write, ‘I love you’ on piece of paper, after she had a play-fight with her classmate and he intervened. There was nothing like touching.
“This is a Catholic school and we do our best to maintain discipline among staff and pupils. The school will not hesitate to terminate the appointment of any teacher found harassing pupils.”
