Recently at the UNGA71 event, President Buhari acknowledged Nigeria as a country that has been adversely affected by the global economic downturn, but however, he voiced his determination to embark on a wide range of reforms in efforts to diversify the economy and shift emphasis to mining, agriculture, industrialization, infrastructure development and the creation of enabling environment for Foreign Direct Investment and creation of more jobs. His strategic objective is to stimulate the economy, restore growth and accelerate recovery. In doing this, the President is taking measures to reduce the cost of governance and increase expenditure on infrastructure and ensure environmental best practices. Mr. President further said Nigeria in fighting corruption remains a cardinal pillar for our administration and is pleased that the efforts are yielding positive results including the significant stolen assets recoveries. Nigeria continues to advocate for the facilitation of this process. Indeed, the speedy and unconditional return of stolen public assets should be the focus of the followup anti-corruption conference to be hosted by the US and UK in Washington next year.
