Ex-en­vi­ron­ment com­mis­sioner dies in China

The fam­ily of a for­mer Com­mis­sioner for En­vi­ron­ment in Edo State, Paul Ke­hinde Fashanu Ud­ofe, has an­nounced his death which oc­curred on Jan­uary 19, 2017 in China dur­ing a busi­ness trip.

Ud­ofe, who hailed from the Ud­ofe fam­ily of Okpe in Akoko-Edo LGA of the state, was the Com­mis­sioner for En­vi­ron­ment from 2004 to 2008. He was born on Septem­ber, 1959 and left be­hind, his wife, Mrs. Flora Fashanu and some chil­dren.

He was a grad­u­ate of Clem­son Univer­sity and Adel­phi Univer­sity in the United States and a PHD stu­dent of the Univer­sity of New Cas­tle in the United King­dom.

Ud­ofe started his bank­ing ca­reer with the Chase Mer­chant Bank in 1982 and was a phi­lan­thropist, busi­ness­man and politi­cian. The burial ar­range­ments, ac­cord­ing to the fam­ily, will be an­nounced later.
