Gunmen attack Kogi police station, kill 3
Gunmen early yesterday attacked a police outpost in Eika, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing two policemen on duty and one other person in the community.
A witness said 10 gunmen invaded the community after midnight and headed to the police station. The other person killed according to the witness was a community leader identified as Malam Sadiq Obomi who was trailed to his house.
It was further learnt that the gunmen burnt down a part of the police station and some motorcycles parked at the premises. Our correspondent further gathered that soldiers and policemen have been drafted to the community to maintain peace and security.
The spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, Mr Williams Ayah, who confirmed the incident said the police were searching for the attackers but no arrest had yet been made at press time yesterday.
