Gun­men at­tack Kogi po­lice sta­tion, kill 3

Gun­men early yes­ter­day at­tacked a po­lice out­post in Eika, Okehi Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area of Kogi State, killing two po­lice­men on duty and one other per­son in the com­mu­nity.

A wit­ness said 10 gun­men in­vaded the com­mu­nity af­ter mid­night and headed to the po­lice sta­tion. The other per­son killed ac­cord­ing to the wit­ness was a com­mu­nity leader iden­ti­fied as Malam Sadiq Obomi who was trailed to his house.

It was fur­ther learnt that the gun­men burnt down a part of the po­lice sta­tion and some mo­tor­cy­cles parked at the premises. Our correspondent fur­ther gath­ered that sol­diers and po­lice­men have been drafted to the com­mu­nity to main­tain peace and se­cu­rity.

The spokesman of the Kogi State Po­lice Com­mand, Mr Wil­liams Ayah, who con­firmed the in­ci­dent said the po­lice were search­ing for the at­tack­ers but no ar­rest had yet been made at press time yes­ter­day.
