Kicking off!

Weekly Trust - - Shot! -

This weekend, four Nigeria Professional Football League clubs will be up against opponents in the preliminary rounds of the 2017 CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup. Thus, as they kick-start their campaigns this weekend, Enugu Rangers, Rivers United, Wikki Tourists and FC Ifeanyi-Ubah would be aiming for a strong start in order to make the return legs mere formalities.

Apart from FC Ifeanyi-Ubah, the remaining clubs are starting their campaigns away from home. Enugu Rangers yesterday played against JSS Saoura in Algeria, Rivers United are in Mali to face Real de Bamako in the Champions League while Wikki Tourists are in Sierra Leone to face the Royal Sierra Leone Armed Forces football club in the Confederation Cup.

Our cover story, therefore, takes a look at the chances of the clubs as they go into the preliminary rounds of their respective competitions. We spoke to some of the key players of the clubs and all were confident they would not disappoint.

We also have for you an interesting interview with an upcoming boxer, Sadiq Umar who said his dream is to become a world champion before 2020. The super middleweight boxer also spoke on how the sport can be developed in Nigeria.

Furthermore, matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League continue this week at match venues across the country and we have served you a preview of some of the matches. Top clubs like Enugu Rangers and Rivers United have continental engagements but table toppers, Plateau United are on ground to continue with their fine form so far.

It will also interest you to know that former world number one golfer, Tiger Woods has ruled out any possibility of regaining his prowess that once made him a dreaded ‘Tiger’ on golf courses across the world.

We rounded up this edition with football in Europe where second placed Tottenham Hotspur are guests of Liverpool in the English Premier League. Any further slip for Liverpool will be costly and that’s the misery Spurs want to inflict on Jurgen Klopp’s men.

This is where we step aside for you to have a clearer view of your ever blazing SHOT!. Enjoy this edition and don’t forget to keep a date with us.

Have a lovely weekend.
