Lagos to dethrone traditional rulers aiding kidnappers
The Lagos State Government yesterday threatened to dethrone and prosecute any monarch indicted for aiding and abetting kidnappers in the state.
The state Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, gave the warning at the ongoing ministerial briefing to mark the two years in office of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Folami spoke against the backdrop of recent allegations by the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, that some traditional rulers in Ikorodu were aiding kidnappers in their nefarious activities.
According to the commissioner, the state government would not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law against any traditional ruler who aids criminal activities in the state.
