Lions club donates items to flood victims
The Lions Club International, District 404, Nigeria, has donated relief materials worth over N10million to the victims of flooding in Benue State.
The District Governor, Ephraim Akwaowo, who presented the donation at the Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) camp at the Ultra-Modern International Market in Makurdi, said it was the culture of the organisation to show support to victims of natural disaster.
Akwaowo remarked that the trauma the flood victims were going through could only be imagined as he prayed God to console them and the state government for the losses suffered so far.
Also the President of the Lions Club in Benue State, Patricia Kpuchi, commended members of the club worldwide for their quick response to render the homeless assistance and making life more bearable for them.
Receiving the items, the state deputy governor and chairman of the flood committee, Engineer Benson Abounu, thanked the club for identifying with Benue people in their hour of need.
