Victor Moses welcomes Iwobi to Stamford Bridge
Brothers will become friendly foes tomorrow as Victor Moses welcomes Alex Iwboi to the Stamford Bridge in tomorrow’s EPL fixture between Chelsea and Arsenal.
Although he did not play any part in Chelsea 6-0 drubbing of Qarabags of Azerbaijan in the UEFA Champions League group match on Tuesday, Moses is highly favourd to return against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
And Iwobi who did not feature for Nigeria against Cameroon in the double header that saw the Super Eagles winning 4-0 in Uyo and drawing 1-1 in Yaounde is expected back to face his compatriot.
Interestingly, Chelsea who have since put behind them the opening day mishap against Burnley will be looking for a fourth straight win as they take on Arsenal in a derby they’ve dominated over the years.
On their part, Arsenal will be at Stamford Bridge having not won there since a Robin van Persie hattrick inspired them to a 5-3 win in 2011.
Although their run so far in the EPL has been far from satisfactory, Arsenal will be keen to build on their 3-0 win over Bournemouth against Chelsea.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as Danny Drinkwater may be available after suffering from a calf problem.
Arsenal will continue to be without Santi Carzorla and Francis Coquelin just as Jack Wilshere may be on the bench if he comes through the Europa League game against Cologne unscathed. Germany’s 36 professional clubs look set to follow the example of EPL by voting to shorten the transfer window, according to GFL chief Reinhard Rauball. Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has agreed a new five-year contract, the club announced on Wednesday. The Brazilian’s new deal will expire on June 30, 2022. No fewer than 30 athletes were disqualified from the National Youth Games in Ilorin over age falsification, according to sports ministry official Ademola Are.
