Fearless Kane proud of Euro show
Harry Kane was delighted to have delivered in the Champions League with a stunning double against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
The Tottenham striker has hit over 20 goals in the Premier League for three seasons in a row and said ahead of Wednesday’s Group H opener he wanted to prove he was world class in Europe.
Spurs ended their Wembley hoodoo with a dazzling 3-1 victory over the much-fancied German side and manager Mauricio Pochettino described the England international as one of the “best strikers in the world”. Kane said: “It’s a very proud night for me, a very pleasing night for me personally and for the team as well. “You’ve got to produce the best against the best and Borussia Dortmund are one of the best teams in Europe. “So I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing and keep my head down. I fancy myself in any game I play. “I’ve just got to keep working hard for the team and hopefully the goals will come.” It is understood that Newcastle United squad will share £4million if they manage to retain their EPL spot, and the pot will increase by £1million for every place they finish higher than 17th.
