TETFUND splashes N900m on Niger Poly infrastructure
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has committed about N900 million to infrastructure development at the Niger State Polytechnic in Zungeru, the Rector, Malam Ahmed Umar, has disclosed.
He said in an interview with our correspondent in Zungeru yesterday that 80 percent of facilities in the institution were interventions by the fund.
Among the facilities are the School of Engineering Complex, which houses the Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering departments and the School of Environmental Studies.
The TETFUND projects, he said, also include solar power, which supplies electricity to the institution and Information and Communications Centres at Zungeru and Bida campuses among others.
Malam Umar expressed optimism that the body would give speedy consideration to its expansion plans for the School of Natural and Applied Sciences as well as the establishment of an agricultural technology initiative.
“We have advantage of vast arable land and we would want to explore that through commercial farming,” he said.
