Nafisa Ab­dul­lahi, Booth, Iyan­tama, oth­ers make African Film Awards fi­nals

Five Kan­ny­wood artistes, a pro­ducer and a di­rec­tor have made the fi­nal list of this year’s African Film Awards in Lon­don, United King­dom.

A state­ment by the or­gan­is­ers of the awards in Lon­don said the artistes in­clude Nafisa Ab­dul­lahi, out­stand­ing ac­tress; Haf­sat Ahmed Idris, best ac­tress; and Hal­ima Yusuf Ibrahim, best ac­tress in sup­port­ing role.

Oth­ers are Ra­madan Booth, best ac­tor; Sani Ahmed Yaro, best ac­tor in sup­port­ing role; while Hamisu Lamido Iyan­tama and Ka­mal S. Al­kali made the list as best pro­ducer and best di­rec­tor re­spec­tively.

Rita Do­minic, Belinda Ef­fah, Joseph Ben­jamin, Ro­timi Salami, among oth­ers, were on the list of Nol­ly­wood (English) cat­e­gory; while Abi­ola Ade­bayo, Yomi Fabiyi and Laide Bakare were listed in the Yoruba lan­guage cat­e­gory.

The state­ment quoted the founder and chair­man of the awards, Prince Mike Abi­ola as say­ing “The an­nual awards, or­gan­ised by African Voice News­pa­per UK, is aimed at cel­e­brat­ing ex­cel­lence in the grow­ing film in­dus­try and build­ing global icons”.

This year’s awards sched­uled for Novem­ber 4th in Strat­ford, South East Lon­don, is the 21st edi­tion of the an­nual event.
