Uber app hits 1.8m users

Uber has said that over 1.8 mil­lion ac­tive rid­ers are us­ing its app since the com­pany was launched in Africa four years ago. Uber, in a state­ment mark­ing the an­niver­sary in Africa, said the com­pany has brought many ben­e­fits to rid­ers.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, Uber Gen­eral Man­ager for Sub-Sa­ha­ran Africa, Alon Lits, said cur­rently it has over 29,000 driver-part­ners tak­ing ad­van­tage of its earn­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

He said driv­ers loved be­ing as flex­i­ble, earn­ing what they want, when they want whether it is a full-time or some­one look­ing to sup­ple­ment their in­come.

Lits said on­go­ing com­mit­ment to driver-part­ners was a key pri­or­ity en­sur­ing they re­ceive the lat­est in tech­no­log­i­cal in­no­va­tions means they can be at the top of their game.
