Over 8000 pa­tients ac­cess La­gos var­sity hos­pi­tal treat­ment – CMD

Over 8000 pa­tients ac­cess care and treat­ment reg­u­larly at the La­gos Uni­ver­sity Teach­ing Hos­pi­tal (LUTH), the Chief Med­i­cal Direc­tor (CMD), Pro­fes­sor Chris Bode has dis­closed.

He said the hos­pi­tal has been bridg­ing the gap in the health sec­tor amidst ris­ing med­i­cal tourism even as he said most is­sues be­ing han­dled abroad can be car­ried out at LUTH.

Bode spoke dur­ing the 1st Amity Awards by the Cen­tre for In­ter­ven­tion De­vel­op­ment and Lead­er­ship (CIDL).

The CMD said, “If you need 100 doc­tors to be on a pa­tient in a day, we have them. We must start to be­lieve in our­selves. LUTH is work­ing.”

The Min­is­ter of State for Health, Dr Os­agie Ehanire, lauded the award as a great step to in­still con­fi­dence in the health sec­tor.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­is­ter, de­spite the neg­a­tive sto­ries about the coun­try’s health-care, there are pro­fes­sion­als mak­ing sac­ri­fices and work­ing to im­prove the sec­tor.
