Cus­toms bust new smug­gling trend, in­ter­cepts N10m il­le­gal drug

Nige­rian Cus­toms Ser­vice (NCS), Kano/ Ji­gawa Com­mand has yes­ter­day alerted that smug­glers have now de­vised new smug­gling trend of us­ing private ve­hi­cles with tinted glasses in smug­gling banned goods and il­le­gal drugs into the coun­try.

Dis­play­ing over 800 bags of rice, 4 drums of il­licit so­lu­tion known as “suck and die” and sev­eral car­tons of Tra­madol 225mg drug worth over N10mil­lion con­veyed in 6 tinted cars and 2 trucks, Kano/Ji­gawa area Comptroller, Yusuf Ab­bah Kas­sim, stated that, the in­ter­cep­tion was made along Babura-Jeke road in Ji­gawa State.

He added that, the mar­ket value of the in­ter­cepted items stands at over N30 mil­lion and that it was ap­par­ent the smug­glers were keen in car­ry­ing their act which he said the ser­vice wouldn’t re­lent in en­sur­ing that they didn’t suc­ceed.
