The po­lice in Borno State yes­ter­day con­firmed that four peo­ple were killed while nine oth­ers sus­tained in­juries when Boko Haram mil­i­tants in­vaded some parts of Maiduguri metropo­lis on Thurs­day evening.

The dead were Civil­ian JTF per­son­nel, one other civil­ian and some two sus­pected fe­male sui­cide bombers, while se­verely in­jured, are two op­er­a­tives of the Spe­cial Anti-Rob­bery Squad (SARS) and seven other civil­ians.

Speak­ing shortly af­ter the at­tack, the The­atre Com­man­der, Op­er­a­tion Lafiya Dole, Ma­jorGen­eral Rogers Nicholas, said the troops of the Op­er­a­tion have in the late hours of Thurs­day suc­cess­ful re­pelled Boko Haram Ter­ror­ist in­cur­sion at the out­skirts of Ji­dari-Polo area of Maiduguri.

He said troops pre­vented the at­tack with the sup­port of other se­cu­rity agen­cies, in­clud­ing the Civil­ian JTF.

Hav­ing sent his troops in pur­suit of the Boko Haram ter­ror­ists and cur­rently pa­trolling the gen­eral area of Ji­dari, Ma­jorGen­eral Nicholas, urged the gen­eral pub­lic and res­i­dents of the area that have ear­lier fled their homes to re­turn, en­cour­ag­ing them to re­port any sus­pi­cious per­sons to se­cu­rity agen­cies cur­rently pa­trolling the area.
