Weekly Trust - - New - Dickson S. Adama, Jos

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Bauchi Zone has accused the committee Chairman and Chief Government Negotiator, Dr. Wale Babalakin of frustrating discussions between both parties on the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement which was supposed to be reviewed every three years as a way of repositioning public universities.

Speaking at a press conference at the end of its zonal mobilization programme at ASUU secretariat, University of Jos, the Zonal Coordinator, Professor Lawan Abubakar, said Dr Babalakin was imposing his ideas and in most cases hardly showing up for meetings.

Professor Abubakar explained that Dr. Babalakin was deliberately frustrating the discussion and bringing obnoxious policies that were detrimental to public universities, but favoured private universities because he owned one.
