FCT FA League en­ters sec­ond round as 12 clubs bat­tle for NWL Div 3 play­off ticket

Fot­ball bat­tles will re­sume in the 2018 Fed­eral Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion, FCT FA, League on Mon­day as 12 clubs tus­sle for the sole ticket to rep­re­sent the ter­ri­tory in next year’s Na­tion Wide League Di­vi­sion Three play­off.

At the draws held yes­ter­day and presided over by the act­ing Sec­re­tary of the FA, Coach Haruna Ilerika, the 12 clubs were drawn in four groups of three teams.

While Group A has Flo­mat FC, Pre­mier and Fire Ser­vice, Group B has high rid­ing FOSLA FC, Fam­ily Wor­ship Cen­tre FC and FC Lib­erty.

Group C will fea­ture Catholic Cadet FC, Rhap­sody FC, and WACO FC while Ba­sic Mara­cana, Thrift Echoes and FC Demo­crat make up Group D.

Speak­ing to Daily Trust, the FA sec­re­tary said at the end of group matches, win­ners of each group would play the Su­per Four to de­cide the over all cham­pi­ons of the league.

Ilerika said the first round of the league fea­tured 25 am­a­ture clubs in the FCT which he said is among the high­est in the coun­try.

“We are do­ing ev­ery­thing pos­si­ble to pro­duce wor­thy cham­pi­ons of the league.

“The FCT FA has en­sured there is a level play­ing field for all the par­tic­i­pat­ing clubs.

“It is for this rea­son that we have not recorded any sin­gle act of hooli­gan­ism.

“Ev­ery­thing is go­ing on peace­fully be­cause we are do­ing ev­ery­thing trans­par­ently.

“We shall re­sume on Mon­day and we hope to con­clude the matches by week­end.

The win­ner of the league will rep­re­sent the FCT in next year’s Na­tion Wide Di­vi­sion Three play­off,” said the na­tional U-15 as­sis­tant coach.

FOSLA FC spon­sored by a former pres­i­dent of the Nige­ria Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion, Sani Lulu Ab­dul­lahi picked the max­i­mum points from four matches in the first round and are poised to win their first league ti­tle.

Mean­while the open­ing match of the sec­ond round of the league will be be­tween Flo­mat FC and Pre­mier FC at the Area 3 sports com­plex.

Last year’s win­ners, Se­traco FC will rep­re­sent the FCT later this month in the Na­tion Wide Di­vi­sion Three play­off.
