Let the police reform be thorough

Following days of protests by youths across the country, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS ) unit of the Nigerian Police.

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who announced the disbandment of the SARS nationwide, said that a new unit has already been created.

President Buhari while reacting to the #EndSARS protests said that the federal government will carry out reform in the Nigerian Police Force. While we commend the president for his listening ear in disbanding the SARS unit of the police, the reform which he promised must be thorough and holistic.

All the anomalies bedeviling the Nigerian Police Force must be clinically looked into and addressed.

We need a rebranded Police Force that will meet the yearning and aspirations of the people.
