Active establishments covered by social insurance rise to 16,787
Muscat - Latest statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) by the end of June indicated an increase in the number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system with a total of 16,787.
This was reflected in increase in the number of active insurees working in the private sector within the sultanate, reaching 217,748, with a total of 28,110 registered cases.
A majority of active insurees were concentrated in the age group of 26-30 years, with 23.4 per cent of the total active insurees.
The average wage of the total active insurees was RO667.
In the termination of service indicators, which includes termination of service, resignation, transfer to another employer, termination of service due to death or disability, and termination of employment for other reasons up to the end of last June, amounted to 26,806 cases, PASI stated.
The number of active insured persons in the extending insur- ance protection system for GCC citizens reached 1,829 and the number of active insured in the insurance system for Omanis working abroad and their equivalents were 42 until the end of June 2017.
The number of active insured persons in the Omani self-employed insurance scheme and their equivalents was 10,376 until the end of June.
In terms of indicators of beneficiaries of the insurance policy, the number of cumulative pension cases disbursed to ‘entitled to all insurance systems’ as of the end of June was 14,542.
Cases of old-age pensions accounted for 41.4 per cent of the total number, followed by the death cases, due to non-occupational reasons 32.6 per cent of the total.
Cases of disability pension due to non-occupational reasons accounted for 19 per cent.
Occupational disability pension and occupational death pensions constituted 2.9 per cent and 4.1 per cent respectively of the total cases of pensions. The number of cases of insurance benefits due to work in- juries reached 260, while the cases of traffic accidents consti- tuted 32.7 per cent.
