Ac­tive es­tab­lish­ments cov­ered by so­cial in­sur­ance rise to 16,787

Mus­cat - Lat­est sta­tis­tics is­sued by the Pub­lic Author­ity for So­cial In­sur­ance (PASI) by the end of June in­di­cated an in­crease in the num­ber of ac­tive es­tab­lish­ments cov­ered by the so­cial in­sur­ance sys­tem with a total of 16,787.

This was re­flected in in­crease in the num­ber of ac­tive in­surees work­ing in the pri­vate sec­tor within the sul­tanate, reach­ing 217,748, with a total of 28,110 regis­tered cases.

A ma­jor­ity of ac­tive in­surees were concentrated in the age group of 26-30 years, with 23.4 per cent of the total ac­tive in­surees.

The av­er­age wage of the total ac­tive in­surees was RO667.

In the ter­mi­na­tion of ser­vice in­di­ca­tors, which in­cludes ter­mi­na­tion of ser­vice, res­ig­na­tion, trans­fer to an­other em­ployer, ter­mi­na­tion of ser­vice due to death or dis­abil­ity, and ter­mi­na­tion of em­ploy­ment for other rea­sons up to the end of last June, amounted to 26,806 cases, PASI stated.

The num­ber of ac­tive in­sured per­sons in the ex­tend­ing in­sur- ance pro­tec­tion sys­tem for GCC cit­i­zens reached 1,829 and the num­ber of ac­tive in­sured in the in­sur­ance sys­tem for Oma­nis work­ing abroad and their equiv­a­lents were 42 un­til the end of June 2017.

The num­ber of ac­tive in­sured per­sons in the Omani self-em­ployed in­sur­ance scheme and their equiv­a­lents was 10,376 un­til the end of June.

In terms of in­di­ca­tors of ben­e­fi­cia­ries of the in­sur­ance pol­icy, the num­ber of cu­mu­la­tive pen­sion cases dis­bursed to ‘en­ti­tled to all in­sur­ance sys­tems’ as of the end of June was 14,542.

Cases of old-age pen­sions ac­counted for 41.4 per cent of the total num­ber, fol­lowed by the death cases, due to non-oc­cu­pa­tional rea­sons 32.6 per cent of the total.

Cases of dis­abil­ity pen­sion due to non-oc­cu­pa­tional rea­sons ac­counted for 19 per cent.

Oc­cu­pa­tional dis­abil­ity pen­sion and oc­cu­pa­tional death pen­sions con­sti­tuted 2.9 per cent and 4.1 per cent re­spec­tively of the total cases of pen­sions. The num­ber of cases of in­sur­ance ben­e­fits due to work in- ju­ries reached 260, while the cases of traf­fic ac­ci­dents con­sti- tuted 32.7 per cent.
