Muscat Daily - - NATION -

A pact to open the first Délifrance bakery and dining outlet in Oman was signed at Crowne Plaza Muscat on Thursday. The outlet is expected to open by April 2018.

Local partners, siblings Ahmed and Maha al Baluchi, along with Ali al Lawati, signed the agreement with Michel Nguyen, international director of Retail Franchise, Délifrance.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed said, “The concept is all day casual French bistro fare served for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. We believe it will do very well in Oman considering the fact that the new generation has had exposure to such concepts around the world and expects similar levels of quality and service at home.”

Lawati said, “Besides having the Délifrance outlet, the partners will focus on the distribution of baked goods to other businesses as well as catering. We will have access to the entire range of Délifrance products which will enable us to offer a uniform and constant quality of staples such as baguettes and croissants, and also introduce more specialised baked goods.

“We’re hoping to open our first branch by April 2018. We are currently looking for a high footfall, high visibility, prime location which offers an indoor/outdoor seating area.”

Maha believes local tastes are changing, and there is room for

improvement in the market.

“We want to bring the essence of French bakeries and bistros in Oman. We aim to create a comfortable space for people to have their gatherings while offering a consistent level of food and service.”

Nguyen added, “Délifrance is a French company with over three decades of experience. We do French bakery/café style casual dining, offering French food to guests from early morning to late evening. We have a presence in over 80 countries. Oman will be our third foray into the GCC market as we have a presence in the UAE and Qatar.”
