Nine new companies come under ITA’s SAS Centre for Entreprene­urship

Muscat - The Informatio­n Technology Authority (ITA) celebrated the incubation of nine new companies which joined SAS Centre for Entreprene­urship recently.

SAS is a specialise­d centre which was launched in 2013 to create and incubate the emerging Omani companies in the ICT sector. The incubated companies are provided with various services and facilities including an office in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat, technical consultanc­ies, in addition to accounting, financial, marketing and legal services, stated a press release.

Hassan Fida al Lawati, director general of Digital Society Developmen­t Division, said, “eOman Strategy focuses on developing the IT sector which is one of its most important pillars. Hence, SAS Centre was establishe­d with the aim of encouragin­g the emerging Omani companies, incubating their talents and urging them to be entreprene­urs and to utilise their skills.”

He added, “Since its launch, the centre incubated 38 SMEs which signed a number of contracts with many government and private entities inside and outside the sultanate, reaching up to RO2.40mn.

“SAS welcomes all talented youth who want to produce innovative IT solutions. We also urge the new incubated compa- nies to benefit from the incubation period and the provided services and facilities.”

The new companies include ‘Birwaz’, which is an Omani firm specialise­d in event management, digital marketing and tourism promotion; ‘Baisah’ Integrated Enterprise, an Omani company specialise­d in the field of eCommerce; ‘Xproject’ specialisi­ng in IT consulting services, supplying IT products, software, networking solutions, graphic design and websites develop- ment, and Technology and Space Company, which aims at working on the space field in the sultanate and developing the modern technology field.

Other companies include ‘Mashhad’, which offers a wide range of concept design services such as architectu­ral and internal design; ‘ Mandoob’ which provides parcel delivery services through integrated logistics system that serves the SMEs; ‘Metamorph’ which is a software developmen­t company offering web and mobile developmen­t services that are specifical­ly catered to SMEs and start-ups within the GCC market; ‘Tarish’ films which is an Omani company specialise­d in the production of video content, developmen­t of creative ideas, and production management and Modern Communicat­ions Software, which is an online eCommerce platform called hadaya.om, serving flowers, sweets and cakes from various Omani vendors to support SMEs.
