Speed lim­its re­duced on cer­tain roads of Mus­cat

Speed lim­its in a few ar­eas of the cap­i­tal city have been re­duced to 60km/hr from 80km/hr. This is part of ROP’s ef­forts to re­duce the num­ber of road ac­ci­dents.

The speed limit on the road lead­ing from Dar­sait church sig­nal to­wards Wat­tayah has been re­duced from 80km/hr to 60km/hr. An ROP spokesper­son con­firmed the low­er­ing of the speed limit say­ing, “The speed limit has been re­duced and new signs have been put up in cer­tain ar­eas.”

He fur­ther said that re­duced speed lim­its may be in­tro­duced on other roads too in the near fu­ture.

Mus­cat Mu­nic­i­pal­ity has said that speed lim­its on Ruwi and Ham­riya fly­overs have been re­duced to 60km/hr.

The civic body has also painted yel­low cau­tion lines to alert driv­ers to re­duce speed on the Ham­riya fly­over.

“We would like to in­form you the speed limit has been brought down to 60km/hr on Ham­riya and Ruwi fly­overs,” it stated.
