Speed limits reduced on certain roads of Muscat
Speed limits in a few areas of the capital city have been reduced to 60km/hr from 80km/hr. This is part of ROP’s efforts to reduce the number of road accidents.
The speed limit on the road leading from Darsait church signal towards Wattayah has been reduced from 80km/hr to 60km/hr. An ROP spokesperson confirmed the lowering of the speed limit saying, “The speed limit has been reduced and new signs have been put up in certain areas.”
He further said that reduced speed limits may be introduced on other roads too in the near future.
Muscat Municipality has said that speed limits on Ruwi and Hamriya flyovers have been reduced to 60km/hr.
The civic body has also painted yellow caution lines to alert drivers to reduce speed on the Hamriya flyover.
“We would like to inform you the speed limit has been brought down to 60km/hr on Hamriya and Ruwi flyovers,” it stated.
