MSM30 declines 0.41%; volumes fall
The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) fell 0.41 per cent at 5,043 points on Wednesday.
Trading activity remained weak as turnover dropped by 40.88 per cent to RO1.53mn and volumes fell 37.42 per cent to 7.67mn shares compared to the previous session.
All the sectoral indices closed in red territory. While the Financial and Industrial indices declined by 0.21 per cent and 0.76 per cent, respectively; Services index fell by 0.44 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed 0.82 per cent down at 749.27 points.
Market breadth remained negative as three companies closed up, while 12 companies closed down. The rest 17 traded stocks closed flat for the day.
The only three gainers on Wednesday were Oman Fisheries (3.15 per cent), Oman National Engineering & Investment (0.64 per cent) and Omantel (0.44 per cent). Top losers were National Aluminium Products (-6.21 per cent), Raysut Cement (-5.67 per cent), National Gas (-3.82 per cent) and Phoenix Power (-3.23 per cent).
