MSM30 de­clines 0.41%; vol­umes fall

The bench­mark in­dex of the Mus­cat Se­cu­ri­ties Mar­ket (MSM) fell 0.41 per cent at 5,043 points on Wed­nes­day.

Trad­ing ac­tiv­ity re­mained weak as turnover dropped by 40.88 per cent to RO1.53mn and vol­umes fell 37.42 per cent to 7.67mn shares com­pared to the pre­vi­ous ses­sion.

All the sec­toral in­dices closed in red ter­ri­tory. While the Fi­nan­cial and In­dus­trial in­dices de­clined by 0.21 per cent and 0.76 per cent, re­spec­tively; Ser­vices in­dex fell by 0.44 per cent. The MSM Shariah in­dex closed 0.82 per cent down at 749.27 points.

Mar­ket breadth re­mained neg­a­tive as three com­pa­nies closed up, while 12 com­pa­nies closed down. The rest 17 traded stocks closed flat for the day.

The only three gain­ers on Wed­nes­day were Oman Fish­eries (3.15 per cent), Oman Na­tional En­gi­neer­ing & In­vest­ment (0.64 per cent) and Oman­tel (0.44 per cent). Top losers were Na­tional Alu­minium Prod­ucts (-6.21 per cent), Ray­sut Ce­ment (-5.67 per cent), Na­tional Gas (-3.82 per cent) and Phoenix Power (-3.23 per cent).
