ITA or­gan­ises sec­ond edi­tion of IT Kids In­no­va­tion The­atre

Mus­cat - With the vi­sion of de­vel­op­ing chil­dren’s abil­i­ties in In­for­ma­tion Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tech­nolo­gies (ICT), the In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy Author­ity (ITA), in co­op­er­a­tion with Mid­dle East Col­lege and other pub­lic and pri­vate part­ners, launched the sec­ond edi­tion of the month-long train­ing pro­gramme ‘IT Kids In­no­va­tion The­atre’, on Mon­day.

The pro­gramme was launched at the Knowl­edge Oa­sis Mus­cat with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of 40 chil­dren from dif­fer­ent parts of the sul­tanate, stated a press re­lease.

It aims at de­vel­op­ing and en­hanc­ing chil­dren’s ca­pa­bil­i­ties in the IT field and en­cour­ag­ing them to utilise their IT knowl­edge, ideas and imag­i­na­tion to pro­duce real ser­vices and prod­ucts un­der the su­per­vi­sion of spe­cial­ists in the field. It also tar­gets qual­i­fy­ing and em­pow­er­ing them to be fu­ture IT en­trepreneurs.

The pro­gramme in­cludes tech­ni­cal and non-tech­ni­cal skills de­vel­op­ment un­der dif­fer­ent fields, which are, dig­i­tal media de­vel­op­ment (like an­i­ma­tion, film pro­duc­tion, etc); ap­pli­ca­tions de­vel­op­ment (elec­tronic games and mo­bile ap­pli­ca­tions); hard­ware and IT in­no­va­tion (ro­bot­ics, pro­gram­ming and other re­lated ap­pli­ca­tion de­vel­op­ment) along with soft skills de­vel­op­ment in the ar­eas of per­son­al­ity de­vel­op­ment, in­ter­per­sonal ef­fec­tive­ness, mind map­ping, en­trepreneur­ship de­vel­op­ment, se­cu­rity, HSE and prob­lem solv­ing.

IT Kids In­no­va­tion The­atre will pro­vide op­por­tu­nity for the chil­dren to work in real en­vi­ron­ment and will also in­clude dis­play­ing the de­vel­oped ap­pli­ca­tions and in­no­va­tions at the ac­com­pa­ny­ing ex­hi­bi­tion to be held at the clos­ing cer­e­mony at the end of the pro­gramme.

This pro­gramme is a great op­por­tu­nity to make the best of the tal­ented kids’ sum­mer va­ca­tion by en­hanc­ing their per­sonal and tech­ni­cal skills in ad­di­tion to be­com­ing fa­mil­iar with the IT field, added the re­lease.

In as­so­ci­a­tion with Mi­crosoft and Oman IT So­ci­ety, IT Kids In­no­va­tion The­atre will have an Open Day for chil­dren un­der the name Code and Cre­ate @ 2 Hours of Code. The main ob­jec­tives of it is to in­tro­duce cod­ing lan­guages to stu­dents, ex­pand and en­hance their knowl­edge and skills in cod­ing and en­cour­age them to ap­ply cod­ing lan­guages in de­vel­op­ing ap­pli­ca­tions, web­sites and games..

Reg­is­tra­tion is open for stu­dents of all na­tion­al­i­ties, in the age group be­tween 8-15 years.
